MATCH PREVIEWS: Whitby Town and North Ferriby United

By Ruth Hornby

George Hodgson speaks to the gaffer ahead Saturday's trip to Whitby and the visit of North Ferriby on Tuesday.

“So far we haven’t come up against a bad side, so we can’t take anything for granted.” Neil Reynolds, BBFC Manager

There’s no time to rest for Bamber Bridge, who gear up for a trip to Whitby Town & the visit of North Ferriby United.

Brig make the journey to the North Yorkshire seaside town on Saturday, looking for their third win in a row.

Whilst both Saturday’s and Tuesday’s opponents aren’t in the richest vein of form, Neil Reynolds knows his side will have to be at their very best.

“It’s one of those league where everyone seems to be beating everyone,” admitted Reno. “So far we haven’t come up against a bad side, so we can’t take anything for granted.

“On top of that we’ve got to hop on a coach for three hours on Saturday, then shake that off and put in a performance.

“We’ve trained well this week and we know Whitby will provide us a really tough test, but it’s one we’re looking forward to.

“We’ll hopefully go there and bring home a point minimum, if we take a point on our away travels and get three at home we know we won’t be far away.

“Then it’s North Ferriby on Tuesday who we know haven’t had the best start, but they can only get better.

“I’m sure the new management team that’s gone in there will be looking to rectify their issues.”

It’s been a busy couple of weeks off the pitch for Brig with four new signings, which Reynolds is especially happy about.

“I said the squad needed some freshening up,” said Reno. “We didn’t change the squad much in the summer but we said we’d look at it 10 games in.

“I felt it was the right time to bring in goalkeeper Ollie Byrne, to add some competition for Lloyd Rigby & Danny Roccia.

“We thought we needed some variation in wide areas, so we brought in Andy Howarth who has started well.

“And another position was a different type of central midfielder, so I’m delighted that we’ve signed Darren McKnight from Glossop North End who will go into the squad for the weekend.”

Brig are sitting comfortably in 13th place in the table, but with a number of games in hand on those above them, it makes exciting reading.

“You can’t help but look at the table, which does look promising,” accepted Reno. “But you’ve got to win those games in hand and ours are against very tough opponents, so we’ll just take each game as it comes and we’re not looking too far ahead.”

The Brig manager confirmed that Macauley Wilson and Adam Dodd will be assessed ahead of the weekend, whilst Michael Potts still remains unavailable through suspension.
