Year 8 Blitz

By Roger Corbett

8 youth teams from around the province gathered at Upritchard Park for a Blitz style tournament last Sunday

Bangor Rugby Club Youth Section hosted a Blitz style competition at Upritchard Park on Sunday 11th February. Teams were gathered from Armagh, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Larne, Malone, Ophir, Portadown, and of course Bangor. Each team played 3 games, with each game lasting 20 minutes.

Everybody concerned, whether they were players, officials or touchline supporters deserved a medal for braving the Arctic conditions, but thankfully all games were played and a great time was had by all. Thanks to all the clubs who took part, and hopefully there will be other occasions soon where the kids can get another chance to play against each other.

As regards our own club's youth section, training takes place each Wednesday evening between 7pm and 8pm at Upritchard Park. There is always room for new faces, and any boy or girl in their early teens will be made most welcome, with or without any rugby experience.
