Bare just not good enough at relegated Sedgewick
On a late April afternoon, a super track awaited the Bare boys, or should I say crocks! Sun out and another toss lost for captain Martin so Bare had to bat. Mixed fortunes at the start for both teams as Evans (3/31) struck early but good resilience from Sch...Worsick (19) and Oz (19) saw Bare move to 45/1 in 11 overs. A good bowling change saw Dalzell (3/22) go through the Bare middle order and the score on 47/4. Another good partnership from vice skip Nev (14) and Bhardwaj (30) saw many comical running moments and weird shots but enough to re-build. The introduction of Hanson (4/16) then again ripped through the Bare middle and lower order with Cook (14) the only lower order batmen to score in double figures. At least 40 runs short, Bare headed off for a very nice tea :-)
In the second half last weeks centurion Bracken (14) and Bevan (20) got Sedgewick off to a solid start but random bowling from White (2/25) saw both openers removed bowled with excellent deliveries. At 41/2 Bare dropped crucial chances and Willacy (44) turned defence into attack as Sedgewick then motored to the finish line. The introduction of new overseas pro...amateur Vishnu (2/16) seemed bad after his first over but proved unplayable. 2 quick wickets, including a good catch from Teffers, were not enough as Smith (23 not out) saw his new team over the line. A well played match against strong opposition that will no doubt be challenging for the Div 2 title at the end of the season. Next week Bare have Penrith 2s at home with Oz on teas, so bring a pack up!!! Right having a cider and getting my eyes checked!!!
