Town and Vale Ladies & Girls join forces

The link will see a formal affiliation between the two clubs and collaboration at all levels, including knowledge sharing, coach exchange and community engagement that will hopefully provide exciting opportunities for football at all levels in Barry and the Vale.

The partnership will also see the Vale Ladies & Girls senior team renamed as Barry Town United Ladies; the first female team to play under the Barry Town banner since 2002.

The team, who will compete in SWWGL Division 2 and play their home matches at Jenner Park, will be managed by the Vale Ladies and Girls backroom staff, who will develop and feed players through their excellent junior system.

Luke Williams, Chairman of Vale Ladies and Girls Football Club commented “We see the partnership with Barry Town United providing our female section with the final piece of the jigsaw.

"We have quickly developed an unrivalled junior set-up in the female game and this partnership will now give us a strong identity in Welsh football and first class facilities to nurture the exciting talent we have within our club.

"Having use of a 2,000 seater stadium with a new, first class playing surface will make a huge difference to player development.

Gavin Chesterfield, First Team Manager at Barry Town United added “I’m delighted to welcome Vale Ladies and Girls into the Barry Town United family.

"This builds upon our recent partnership with Vale Reds Disability team and further offers opportunities for footballers across Barry and the Vale.

Barry Town United AFC will now go into the 2015/2016 season with eight teams in its structure: U8s, U13s, U15s, U19s, pan-disability sides at U16 and 16+ levels, the men's senior team and the ladies' senior team.
