Belgrave overcome conditions for a bonus point win

By

Written by a man who found the orphans of the storm ,still waiting for his fairy cakes and rather windswept and wet.Looking for King Lear

Today a home game for Belgrave the visitors being Stewarts and Lloyds RFC who I shall refer to as SLs,to save me from typists cramp. The match official for the day Mr Martin Williams who has a landscaping business with the weather we had during the game he should be busy next week.
The portents for the weather were not good with storm Deidre due to pay us a visit during the game.
As regards the orphans of the storm the Austin Brothers and Tom(statto )Hunter were present,I noticed the Austins had no gloves,I will buy you some and mum can thread elastic through your coats so you don't lose them.
For those of us that can remember Deidre was a character in Hilda Bakers act back in the day, always played by a rather tall man to Hildas 5 feet nothing, who never spoke,Hildas catch phrase "She knows you know" one there for you Mooney.
On the kick off Belgrave defended the clubhouse end playing against a strong wind blowing from Abbey Lane.On their first attack SLs scored with Cameron McGregor scoring under the posts giving them a 7 point lead.Belgrave hit back with a drive downfield resulting in a score by Ashley Clarke(as pictured) and Kevin(bungle)Curtis adding 2 points with the boot.
At this point Deidre arrived and the rain lashed down both teams did well to stand up never mind play rugby Belgrave doubled their score when Nathan(wacko)Wells went on a 20 yard run to score under the posts. For the last 15 minutes of the half SLs were inside the Belgrave 22 laying siege to their line.2 yellow cards during this time one for either side,Patrick(the Viking warrior)Thomson being one of them, you will not go to Valhalla Patrick.Thats the Viking heaven for those that don't know. Half time saw the score Belgrave 14 SLs 7.Not very often seen both teams went to the changing rooms such was the force of Deidre.
The second half started with the wind and rain in favour of Belgrave and SLs were pinned in their own half,Connor Jackson scored from behind a 10 yard Belgrave scrum, a kick through was followed up by Jamie(the cobra)Crumbie who out ran the defence to score. The Belgrave pack was running wild and free using the conditions to their advantage. Two solid runs by James(chink)Dolan put the defence under pressure and he drove over the line taking several players with him.The final score Belgrave 32 Stewarts and Lloyds 7.A plaudit to both teams and match official Mr Williams for keeping the game going in such conditions.
Next week the annual Xmas lunch with 100 sitting down ,the usual goings on the caterers van being blocked in,the murder of O'come all ye faithful, should be a good day.
As I made my way home I was sure there were a group of people performing the storm scene from Shakespears play "King Lear" on Redhill Island,I watched it last Xmas Day take it from me its very long and very boring.See you next week
