Sutton hosted Portishead who were sitting a couple of places lower in the league on a blustery and showery afternoon.
Josh Yakub continued in goal with a back four of Sam Roberts, Adam Crooks, Nathan Rendell and George Thorne, a midfield of captain Jack Keen, Corey Rawlings, Sam Downes and Josh Dakwa and with Mason Daggar and Chris Hind up front.
Sutton got off to a quick start, after 7 minutes a break down the left and pin point centre by Downes found Rawlings who netted with aplomb.
On 30 minutes Yakub was forced to make a good save to deny Portishead following a midfield mistake.
Portishead equalised on 44 minutes, a quick break down the right and cross was met first time giving Yakub no chance.
Sutton regained the lead just before half time, a Downes free kick from 22 metres beat the wall and flew into the top left corner.

The second half was ‘evens stephens’ with neither side playing particularly well.
Sutton played all three subs, on 60, 72 and 75 minutes, Dakwa, Hind and Crooks giving way to Callum Hinder, Adam Young and James Pool.
Portishead came close to an equaliser in the 85th minute, Yakub was forced into a good save diving to his left.

Sutton’s Man of the Match, Corey Rawlings for an industrious display and goal.
Overall a little lack lustre but pleasing to take the three points to move up to sixth place in the table.
We now have two away games, at Almondsbury on Tuesday night the 12th and at Oldland on Saturday the 16th.
