6 Nations predictor league week 4

In the penultimate week of the 2018 Six Nations, Wales pulled away to beat Italy, England lost again, while Ireland won again to secure this year’s championship.

In our league the main cause of points was Scotland scoring less than many thought and also England losing in Paris. Although there were two predictors within 1 point of a perfect score in each of these games, Will Evans was only 1 out for the game in Dublin, while Debbie Porter was pessimistic about England’s chances against France and was rewarded with a score of 1. Overall in the week there was some good scoring with 4 people with less than 30 points, these included Steve Kirby, Barry Hadwin and Mark Bullen who had another good week, however none could match Debbie Porter who followed her 1 point score in the England game with scores of just 8 and 11 in the other games to total just 20 points for the week to secure a well deserved £10.

At the other end of the table this week we again saw club President, Brian Maudsley, we also saw week 2 winner, Joe Shorrock, which goes to show how unpredictable this league can be. Adam White was second bottom, but this week the unenviable honour of bottom spot goes to Matthew Birbeck, his score of 95 saw him holding up the rest.

In the overall league standings those in the top four last week are still in the top four, although there is a slight re-adjustment with Mark Bullen jumping up to second, but Robert Scott still leads as we go into the final week. Carl Hardcastle had a much improved week as he hit the heady heights of 44th with his weekly score of 46, this helped him to move off the bottom of the overall standings. It is tight at the bottom, but John Rawson and Jess Newman are currently in the bottom three, with John Turner in pole position for the wooden spoon with one week to go.
