Mace's double helps Beavers to first win of the season

Blofield finally got their season up and running with a hard fought win over their Division 1 visitors Stalham Town.

The beavers were boosted during the week by the return of last years top goal scorer Orren Oliver, who has rejoined the club following a short spell with Great Yarmouth Town.

After going one down, it was Orren who was on hand to equalise with Mace and a Morgan penalty putting the beavers 3-1 up at half time.

Stalham came back into the game second half and reduced the arrears twice. Sandwiched between these goals was another strike from Mace and fortunately the home side managed to hold on for their first victory of the season, despite another returning player, Elliot Gibbs, being sent off for a late tackle.

The Beavers return to league duty with a trip to Wroxham Reserves next weekend.

With the Reserve team manager Liam Barnes stepping down during the week and his assistant Andy Guest being away, myself and secretary Steve Titchiner took charge of the Reserves away at Attleborough.

With six teenagers in the squad, the boys played extremely well & gave a really good account of themselves in the 3-1 defeat to the home side. Calum Cox with the goal courtesy of a penalty in the second half.

Next up for the Reserves is a Morley Cup home tie next weekend against Scole Reserves.
