Bookham 1-4 Cobham

By

Bookham Poor Form Continue's After Defeat At Home To Cobham.

Bookham came into this game in a bad run of form so it was clear that they set-up in a 4-5-1 formation to try and steady the ship. Bookham's best chance of the half came on 12 minutes when some great work from Goode was finished with a great strike from Woodhouse from 20 yards which narrowly went wide. Cobham put on the pressure and nearly opened the scoring on 21 minutes when a cross from the right hand side was headed over from 3 yards out. The game was fairly even up until 5 minutes from half time when Cobham turned the screw and 3 consecutive corners caused problems. The 1st was a header cleared of the line from Carnota and the 3rd resulted in Cobham's opener when Fuller lost his man and the centre-half headed home at the back post. Two minutes later it could have got worse for Bookham when a fantastic strike rattled the crossbar to leave Sturman helpless. Bookham were still in the game and knew that a better second half performance was needed to get something. Bookham started well after half time with Fowler and Woodhouse trying to support Taylor in attack. However on 63 minutes Fowler lost possession and from the resulting through ball Bookham found themselves 2 down. Heads were down and four minutes later Bookham were unfortunate to concede a free-kick on the edge of the area that was a terrible decision by the referee. From this a great strike made it 3-0 and Bookham's task looked very hard. On 72 Fowler's corner was met by the free Fuller who headed his effort onto the cross bar and could count himself unlucky. Moments later Woodhouse came close with a free-kick and it just didn't look like Bookham's day in front of goal. In the 81st minute Cobham got there 4th with a one-on-one which was finished well past Sturman. Another free-kick for Bookham was taken by J.Taylor who finished superbly into the bottom right for Bookham's consolation. Bookham could have got a second when Fowler struck the ball over from short range after it dropping to him from a corner with minutes remaining. Although the scoreline doesn't look pretty chances were even in this match and with some better finishing then it could have finished up different. Bookham need to pick themselves up for next saturday's early 2oclock kick off away to Eversley.
