NOSTELL MATCH REPORT
By Scott Hellewell
Nostell 0-1 Brigg
Brigg went into the game knowing only a win would do in there battle for survival.
Brigg had the best of the first period and controlled a lot of the play. Brigg looked a threat going forward with the pace of
Luke Anderson and
Matt Parker upfront and balls over the top were causing Nostell problems.. Brigg had a penalty claim turned down when
Luke Anderson outpaced his marker and got in front of his man only for the defender to trip Anderson up but the referee didn't agree and turned down the appeals.
Brigg took the lead on 41 minutes when a ball over the top put Anderson in on goal and he slipped the ball under the on rushing keeper to make it 1-0.
The second half there was more chances for both teams especially when Nostell pushed players forward in search of the equalizer. Brigg could have extended there lead but for sloppy final decisions in key areas.
Nostell should have got back on level terms when a cross from the right found a Nostell sub only for him to make a hash of his attempt and for the ball to trickle wide.
Brigg ran down the clock in the final few moments of the game and left Nostell with 3 crucial points.
Brigg are at home this Saturday for the local derby against Cleethorpes.
