Worsbrough Bridge v Brighouse Town - Courier Preview

By Ray McLaughlin

Brighouse looking for third away win

Brighouse Town will be looking for their third away win in the first division when they travel to Worsbrough Bridge Athletic tomorrow.

And boss Mark Brier has been handed a boost with news that Jermaine Manners will be available for the trip to Barnsley.

The influential midfielder was expected to have missed last week's home clash with the same opposition, a game that was postponADVERTISEMENTed due to a waterlogged pitch.

That game has been rearranged for January 27 and Brier admitted he was happy not to have to face the same opposition in successive weekends.

"In a way I am pleased it has not turned out to be back-to-back games because I am not really keen on them," he said.

"Jermaine is available tomorrow and that is good news and we also have Sam Talbot available.

"That will offset the news that our new signing Liam Roche has not recovered from the foot injury he suffered on his debut against Staveley."

That game, a fortnight ago, was Town's last in the league and ended in a goalless draw.

Brier is hoping his side can find their goal touch again tomorrow, but they look like they will have to do it without John Booth.

He is expected to return to Luddenden Foot despite having scored five league goals for Town in their first season at this level.

"I think John has decided he does not want to play at this level and that frustrates me," said Brier.

Town are bracing themselves for a busy start to the New Year with seven games scheduled for January in the league and Wilkinson Sword Trophy.

The good news is that midfielder Mark Brady should be ready to return to training in the next week or so as he continued his recover from a broken bone in his hand and Wayne Crossley has been given the all clear after a lengthy absence with a hamstring problem.

"We look like we will be busy in the new year but with players returning will also be in better shape," said Brier.
