Day best forgotten as Burton lose heavily

Lack of everything apart from bickering sees Burton defeated

It was to be Burton B XV great day playing at home on the Croft, but how expectations change in the minutes before kick-off. The day started badly enough when nobody turned up to referee the B XV home game on Peel Croft, but after using all available lines of attack the problem was solved with only 15 minutes to go before kick off when Ian Gibson, one of the B team’s utility players, agreed to be referee for the day so a big thank you must go out to him.

But the day got even worse when what looked a fairly decent team on paper played with no cohesion and allowed the opposition to continually counter attack with great success, while Burton looked around themselves blaming each other rather than getting on with playing the game. Uttoxeter took full advantage of Burton’s unusual lack of team sprit to run in seven tries as Burton struggled to cope with their hard running backs and no one in the Burton side came out of this match with any credit, never mind points.

A crushing 0-44 defeat plus all the unusual on field distractions resulted in a very bad day at the office that is best forgotten and one that can hopefully be put behind the team.
