Vs Netherfield (H): Nixon Blows Away Top Order

Carnforth won the toss an elected to field on what looked like a very good batting track. Knowing the going would be tough against a strong batting line up Carnforth were delighted to pick up the early wickets of Haddrick (19) and then Atkinson (6) both by Quinn.

Whilst the wickets fell around him Brown (49) continued to play with ease until he was adjudged LBW trying to sweep Morris. At 83-4 the innings could have gone either way but Huck (77*) shared important partnerships with Mason (27) putting on 61, Laughlin (26) putting on 44 and finally an unbroken partnership of 65 with Barrow (33*).

Netherfield finished on a highly competitive total of 253-6 with Dickon Morris coming out with the best figures of 3-52, Quinn having 2 wickets and Cowperthwaite the final one.

Carnforth were soon in trouble when Moore (5) was caught behind off the impressive Nixon leaving Carnforth 6-1. Nelson (13) and Morris (55*) looking to re-group and were looking settled until Nelson was on the wrong end of a very poor decision. He was adjudged to have been caught behind down the legside when the ball had quite clearly struck the pad!

27-2 soon turned to 31-3 as Barnfield (0) struck a legstump half volley straight to the only legside fielder, and when Pedder soon followed being caught behind Carnforth were struggling at 56-5.

Bradley (1), D.Nelson (2), and Cowperthwaite (1) all departed for single figures leaving Morris frustrated at the other end.

Quinn (14) supported Morris well, but when he was clean bowled Carnforth and slipped to 101-8 and the game was over. The final pair of Weller (0) and Benson (0) soon departed leaving Morris stranded on 55 not out and Carnforth all out for a very disappointing 102.

Nixon finished with 5-28, and Netherfield left with a convincing 15 point win.
