Chasetown registered the first shot on target with an 18th minute free kick after Mitch Piggon was fouled right on the edge of the area. Jack Langston’s powerful kick went beyond the wall but was held by keeper Sam Donkin.
Stamford took the lead in the 25th minute when Grant Ryan received the ball from Jake Duffy unmarked 12 yards out and fired beyond Curtis Pond.
On the stroke of halftime Ryan almost added his second goal but could only direct his header straight at Pond.
Stamford doubled their lead a minute into the second half with a fortuitous goal as Danny Draper’s effort took a wicked bounce to elude Pond’s outstretched hand.
Chasetown substitute Josh Ruff was a whisker away from a way back into the game for the hosts with a weaving run that beat four men but failed to hit the target.
In the 88th minute a quickly taken free kick was crossed into the box by Jamie Sheldon and Piggon headed on to Langston who headed home from close range
