Gladiators help Wales prepare for Rugby League World Cup 2017

By Jim Green

A number of Chester Gladiators players featured in a training game to help Wales prepare for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.

The Welsh national team, who will head out to Papua New Guinea and Australia shortly for the tournament, have been based in North Wales for a training camp and faced a Wales Select XIII at Queensway Stadium in Wrexham on Wednesday afternoon.

Primarily made up of Wales Students representatives, the squad included several current and former Gladiators who lined up against Super League and Championship stars including captain Craig Kopczak of Salford Red Devils and St Helens flyer Regan Grace.

It was a tremendous opportunity for those Gladiators players involved and hopefully ensure Wales are in good shape for their pool games against Papua New Guinea, Fiji and Ireland.
