A bad day at the office for Chew Valley.

By

If Yatton had taken all of their chances this could have been a cricket score, Chew Valley were poor throughout and saw little of the ball. Could be interesting at training this week!

Yatton 24 Chew Valley 14
Yatton should have had the try bonus point and the game wrapped up by half time against a lacklustre Chew Valley side who gave every impression of being hungover from the previous weekend's excesses.
Quicker to the ball the hosts scored with the first play of the game when Chew Valley failed to secure the kickoff and after several phases winger Chris Edwards scored close to the posts. Outside half Jack Edwards converted.
Chew Valley hit back with a try from a driving maul close in finished by hooker Jack Monk and converted by scrum half Alex Cameron after 8 minutes. For the rest of the half Chew Valley barely saw the ball while regularly missing tackles and when they had the ball a series of unforced errors meant they never acheived their normal fluency in attack. Winger Tom Moore looked dangerous every time he saw the ball and finished well from a counter attack when one of a number of Chew Valley clearances failed fo find fouch, the forward pass from his fullback went un noticed but he should have been halted before crossing under the posts for Edwards to convert on 12 minutes and Chris Edwards grabbed his second with 24 gone as Yatton showed ambition from their own 5 metre line and the winger had the gas to go round the covering defence. Edwards converted and there was only one side in the game. At least five scoring chances were wasted with a combination of white line fever and poor execution of the final pass.
Chew Valley had the chance to regroup at half time with the sun at their backs playing down the hill but they spent most of the half defending and Moore should have had at least two tries but was held up short. Yatton added a penalty by Moore on 58 minutes and although Chew Valley had chances their mistakes at lineouts close in proved costly. Tom Bryan, moved fo outside half with Dan Gatton off with a knock found himself on the edge of a maul with the ball and a gap from which he scored under the posts. Cameron converted with 9 minutes on the clock. When Chew Valley winger Lee Wedlake was binned Yatton should have taken advantage for the try bonus point but stout defence denied them.
