Chichester U-13's Big Day Out.

By

Great day with the Harlequins coaches, followed by Haelequins vs. Saracens and a pitch walk-about. https://www.facebook.com/140054232831557/videos/703846436452331/

As always a big thank you to all the parents that drove up to the Stoop for training today. It was a long way but well worth the drive in my opinion.

Firstly thank you to Rosie Manger who organised the whole day with the Quins community coaches, sorting out seating and general Q&A in the lead up. Job well done. And to Fran for comms and collection of money and general harassment of parents for payment.

The two coaches that took the boys were very complementary on not only their ability as a squad but their behaviour and willingness to learn.

Short inclusive drills focusing on the squad as a whole encouraging those that were perhaps not as confident as others. For us as a coaching team some tips on how to stretch our more robust players whilst building the confidence of those who are equally valuable but less likely to ‘push’ themselves to the forefront.

Communication and teamwork were encouraged and the ability to think for themselves during game time rather than instructions being shouted from the sides.

From my point of view it was great to see the boys engaged and eager to learn from different coaches. Their style and manner was calm but authoritative and worked well with. It is always encouraging to see how a squad performs for and reacts to different coaches and the boys were attentive and focused. Thus should put us in a good place for the rest of the season.

So as far as training goes the boys represented Chichester Rugby Club well. Well done team.

The game after has been described on TV this evening as a real mans game of rugby. Not massively exciting but a win ground out by Quins. The last try to seal the game was impressive. Clearly Quins have been learning from Charlie M and Ben Q! A mighty win for Quins. Andy H take note!

Again well done all. Great turn out and a great day.

See you on Sunday for our second league match.

Gavin.
