Please support the Salvation Army Toys & Tins Appeal

By MATTHEW STEPHEN

Chippenham RFC are proudly part of the Rugby Family but aware that Christmas for some families and individuals can be hard

At Chippenham RFC we are proud to be part of the rugby family but as we approach the festive period we are aware that for some families and individuals Christmas can be a difficult time.

The club would like to assist those local families and individuals who are in need of help this Christmas and so we will be supporting the Salvation Army’s Christmas Toys and Tins appeal.

The Salvation Army are looking for new, unwrapped toys to provide some joy for local children who may otherwise not receive a gift. All gifts are welcome but suggested items are as follows:
0-3 years: dolls, teddy bears, cot mobiles, baby clothes, bath toys, CDs of suitable music and nursery rhymes, puzzles
3-5: dolls and action figures, cars, lorries, DVDs and CDs (music and nursery rhymes), colouring sets, pencils, crayons, books, puzzles
5-9: educational games & toys, stationery (colouring sets, pencils, crayons, school sets), CDs & family friendly DVDs, books, puzzles, wordsearch, crosswords
9-12: games and toys, stationery, DVDs, books, t-shirts, hair accessories, gloves, scarves, hats
13-16: books, make-up and toiletries (please try to ensure non-allergic ingredients if possible), gloves, scarves, hats, t-shirts, hair accessories and gift vouchers.

The Salvation Army believe that every child deserves a new gift at Christmas so sadly they are unable to take used or second hand items for the Christmas Present Appeal. In addition, the Salvation Army hope to provide Christmas food hampers to those in need and so any donations of the following, non perishable, food would also be greatly appreciated;

A family size Christmas Pudding
Confectionery
Mince pies
Shortbread
Savoury snacks
Dried pasta or rice
Tinned meat or fish
Tinned fruit
Tinned soup
Tinned baked beans
Tinned vegetables

CRFC members who wish to support this appeal can donate toys and food at the drop off point inside the clubhouse from this Saturday onwards. The club will deliver the gifts to the Chippenham Salvation Army centre so that they can be wrapped and distributed in time for Christmas.

By adding just one or two items to your shopping basket each week our members can make a huge difference to the lives of those local children, families and individuals who are in need of support. Please donate to this very worthy cause if you are able to.

Thanks in advance for your support.
