CHIPPENHAM kept their outside title chances in South West One East alive with a dominant 52-15 victory away at Salisbury. The Allington Fields side are now 10 points adrift of leaders Old Patesians with two games remaining. For Chippenham, who currently sit third, to be crowned champions they would require bonus-point wins in each of their remaining two fixtures and Old Pats to fail to pick a point themselves.
They would also require at least one slip-up from second-placed Banbury, who are a point above Chippenham but have three games still to play.

Brad Doggett bagged a brace of tries against Salisbury, while Ed Hendy, Ben Riley, Gareth Angell, Jacob Unwin and Miles Davies also got over the whitewash. A penalty try completed Chippenham’s haul of eight, while Dan Wainwright added 12 points with the boot.

Although their chances of league success are slim, Chippenham were looking to get a piece of silverware to their name on Wednesday night in the final of the Bath Combination Cup against Keynsham. Chippenham earned their place at the Rec – home of Aviva Premiership side Bath – after beating Oldfield Old Boys 40-10 in the semi-finals seven days prior.
