Chippenham 2nds v Melksham

By

All round team performance under lights and well deserved win!!

Chippenham 2nds had a rearranged game v Melksham after earlier confusion over kick off times for the original date 17th March. So after a good warm up and playing on hard ground Chippenham were soon into their stride with a brace of tries by their back line. Joe Bodman at scrumhalf was having a great game finding Vinyl Stone with ease. Kieran Atkin took a bang on his nose claret, so sub Peter Gingell made his way to the field and soon left his mark on the Melksham scrum half late or good timing was the debate [10 minute delay for attention]but not seen by the referee Bryn Stew. More flowing rugby with Chippenham were well worth the lead and good to see some returning players front up Nathan Dunford, Dan Jones and Craig the winger. Captain Newman was leading his troops well and showing special interest in Melksham Cox. Chippenham finished the half with another great try. Second half continued much the same a dominant scrum with Chippenham scoring a couple more tries Nat Parkes who cut his grade earlier in the season in the 3rds. Final Chippenham try was Liam Newton. Rob fielder was showing his versatility going from scrum half , fullback back to his preferred position open side in the past three weeks priceless!!
Melksham had the last say but it took them until 75 minute to wake up scoring two well deserved backs tries and converted.
Final Score Chippenham 2nds 34 -14 Melksham
Man of the Match: Ritchie Stone
Maybe more floodlight games next season as the experiment worked well!!
