Bath Saracens v Chippenham III

By

Great advert for Dorset Wilts 3 North!!!

Chippenham wanted to put the disappointment of not fielding a side during the Six Nations super Saturday game behind them. So in a confident mood, buoyed by two late bench warmers in stalwarts: Matt Spurway and Darren McMillan, the gentlemen gathered on crisp spring day in Bath to avenge the home loss earlier in the season.

Chippenham were on the front foot and making in roads after a sustained period of pressure a penalty awarded Wheeler opted for a kick, just in front of the posts within the 22 m to which Matt Wray duly slotted it over, for what ended up to be the crucial score!! The forward were again in a dominant mood and the backs linking up well and the returning Army hero Courtney Howell playing in an unfamiliar wing position backed himself and barged over great start- Wray converting. Saracens through their captain Alex at 10 and influential no 8 were not daunted and scored. Arran Bell took a knee after feeling a twinge in his back and Mr Versatile Johnny Goodall moved into prop from his wing berth which meant the evergreen Darren McBibble [dont mention his first touch- knock on] slotting in at fullback and the pacy Howard Jackson moving to wing berth. The bench was used again with another Army hero Jake Howells taking the place of Sam Tingey who was showing up but lets use the bench to keep the intensity going was the call from Wheeler. The pack were in dominant form yet again from a scrum Chippenham feed bizarrely lost the ball however from the second surge the Bath Saracens were pushed off the ball at a rate of knots however they sustained injuries to two front row players. Unfortunately one player was unable to move and no one wanted to move him ambulance called - speedy recovery. The game was restarted on their second pitch but due to injuries discussion with referee uncontested was decided the big Chippenham weapon nullified. At the restart Chippenham were asleep and Alex at 10 scored wake up call. Rolly Hatrwell feeling the effects of excess made way for another stalwart in Matt Spurway who soon score after great phase play and a sublime pass from Nick Regan
The second half continued in much the same vain but Saracens scored through their no 8. Line out was going well for Chippenham with the returning Gingell finding Storey at ease. Rob Fielder was his usual dominant form and turning ball over. Jim Hamilton at centre was showing up well and very combative after his recent travels. Chippenham phase play was great and from such Matthew Wray scored and converted. Not to be out done Saracens scored again . Chippenham had the last try with yet again touch magician Regan found Matt Spurway in space still cut inside to score. Saracens scored again - So could Chippenham hold out for the last 10 minutes, yes with great defence and massive team spirit.

Final Score: Bath Saracens 26 - 29 Chippenham 3rds
MOM: Nick Regan
Thank you again to all great intensity, desire and passion rest up not too many Easter eggs Jimmer. Speedy recovery to the Saracens prop.
No game over Easter. Next Game 7th April home to BOA II meet 1345.
