Chippenham prove to strong for North Dorset

By

Chippenham under 12's opened up the second stage of the Dorset and Wilts cup with a convincing victory.

After the disappointment of last weeks cancelled fixture, Chippenham were definitely up for the match against North Dorset in the second stage of the Dorset and Wilts cup. Chippenham started the game well, applying early pressure close to the North Dorset try line. A few handling errors meant Chippenham let a couple of opportunities slip by. With the pressure still being applied, Chippenham got the breakthrough, a lovely wide pass from Chippenham fly half, Fin Fielder, put Harry Mcloughlin into space to score. The second soon followed, a free pass gave Fielder the time to pick out the galloping Theo Malik who brushed off the would be tackler to get Chippenham's second. Fielder then took charge, scoring his first after a Malik run and offload created the space for him to run into. Fielders second was a solo effort, North Dorset put in a clearing kick from close to their own line, Fielder was perfectly placed to receive the kick and ran it back through the defenders to score. Chippenham then made a series of substitutes which disrupted their flow. North Dorset got on the scoreboard after a loose pass from Chippenham was fumbled over the try line and the on rushing North Dorset defence pounced on the ball to score. This try seemed to give North Dorset an extra boost and they got their second when from a ruck Chippenham failed to defend the blind side and the North Dorset player spotted the gap and ran in from 20 meters. Half time Chippenham 20 North Dorset 10.
After some words from the coaches at half time Chippenham started the second half with more intensity and determined not to concede again. The half started well and after Jack Shuker and Ollie Armand turned over a ruck Fin Fielder found space on the blind side to complete his hat-trick. Chippenham continued to dominate territory and following an infringement form North Dorset at the break down, a quick tap and good interplay by the Chippenham backs put James Lamacraft into space on the wing and he did the rest. The final try came from a Fielder kick which was recovered by the impressive Armand, Shuker, Edgar Harding and Liam Smith hit the ruck quickly giving clean ball for Malik to crash through for his second. Final score Chippenham 35 North Dorset 10. An impressive all round display from Chippenham setting them up well for the second half of the season.
