Under 18.5’s beat Roscrea-Birr 53 - 8

Cill Dara 18s through to second round of the cup with win against Roscrea-Birr.

Cill Dara eased into the second round of the D’Arcy cup with a comfortable win against Division 2 side Roscrea-Birr in Roscrea on Sunday. Two divisions separate these teams and the score reflected that in the end. Cill Dara started the scoring with a Ryan Curran penalty after 3 minutes. Reece Delaney got the first try of the game after 10 minutes which was converted by Ryan Curran to make it 10 nil. Cill Dara dominated possession and territory but a series of handling errors prevented them adding to the score until just before half-time when Adam Meehan got his try after a good backs move. Two minutes later a turn-over by Christopher Walsh out wide released Ryan Curran down the wing to score in the corner. In between Roscrea got their only score of the half with a well taken penalty

Cill Dara upped the tempo in the second half and a tiring Roscrea team were not able to keep the pace. Michael John Prendergast got the first of his two tries three minutes after the restart. That was followed by Cian Buckley’s well taken effort in the corner nine minutes later. After 17 minutes Tadhg Murtagh spotted a gap in mid-field and rounded the full back with pace to score under the posts. Michael John and Ryan Curran got their second tries to bring the score above 50 points before the Roscrea pack got a try for their efforts with the last play of the game. Overall a satisfactory result after a 6 week lay-off. Next up is the second last league game of the year away to Kilkenny next Sunday.
