Late Drama at Cinders Lane

Faringdon Thursday Cup Result

Clanfield Reserves bowed out of the Faringdon Cup after a brave effort against Fairford Town. The game looked to be heading for penalties with the score 2 apiece after 90 minutes when Fairford struck twice in the 90th and 92nd minutes to seal a 4-2 victory. Callum " Driller" Miller bagged himself two goals, one from a freekick after a quick piece of thinking between Neil Lee and James Bowers. The second was a powerful header from a well taken corner by Alex Bush.

Manager Lewis Cuss commented afterwards.

I am proud of the players performance tonight, we more than matched a Fairford side with lots of Hellenic Premier Division experience in it. A shame we couldn't quite push it over the line and take it to the penalties. Lots of positives to take out the experience though for all of the players, and we now look forward to the 17th and 19th of August when we take on Stanford In The Vale FC and Brize Norton FC both away and kicking off at 6.30pm.
