Kick-Off 1pm.

Firstly I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas Day and Santa brought you what you asked for.

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without the Boxing Day football fix and this year we are treated to a local derby at Billing Road, home of Northampton club O.N Chenecks. Our hosts are of course the town’s number two club after the sad demise of Northampton Spencer and the relegation on Sileby Rangers at the end of last season, but they are finding the going tough this season sitting in 16th spot some nine places behind the Cooks. The gap is also highlighted by current form with the Cooks nine games unbeaten and Chenecks not having won in any of their previous fifteen. Their last success was a surprise 6-2 win at the then in-form Peterborough Northern Star, but that was way back in early October, while their only other two victories came back in September when they beat Whitworth 4-0 and Kirby Muxloe 3-1 on successive Saturdays both at Billing Road. All that of course means nothing when you go into a local derby and we will need to run off that turkey and be prepared for a battle if we are going to take our run into double figures tomorrow.
Chenecks feature a few ex-Cogenhoe players in their squad and we may see some in action tomorrow, although they don’t tend to fill their teamsheets in so who is playing at the moment is unknown. The last sheet they have updated was the 0-4 defeat at home to Daventry Town back at the start of December and that team featured Nathan Burrows, Ross Garlick and Jake Nagy in their starting line-up.
Last season we won 2-0 at Billing Road to complete a double after our 4-0 home win very early in the season. The game at Chenecks saw goals from Ryan Ansell (52) and a cracker from Ryan Dove (56) earn us the points in front of a decent Friday night crowd as we reached the final stages of the season.
Don’t forget the game kicks-off at 1pm and as we have next Saturday off it will be our final game of a superb 2018 for the Cooks. Your reporter isn’t very well at the moment so I may not be able to make it to the game, so keep your fingers crossed that I can make it with my notebook and camera please.
