Academy Team of the Week - Monday 6th November 2017

By Jay Catton

Following academy cup games and fixtures vs Bangor City this weeks team of the week has been announced.

[b]Under 8 – Taidhg Wiegand

Taidhg played well out wide but was really solid in the middle when moved to CM. Won the ball in there and carried it well stopping Bangors midfielders as they were beginning to win the battle in the middle. (James Duff U8 Coach)

Under 9 – Wil Smith

Wil shown lots of character on Saturday against Bangor, looked really strong and composed on the ball and made really good decisions in the game. Also stepped up and played for the u10s. (Craig Griffiths U9 Coach)

Under 10 – James Hughes

Without much of the ball in the first couple of periods, Hughesy shown consistent desire to win the ball all the time when playing upfront battling with a physical Bangor side, James is looking more confident on & off the ball & massively improving each week. (Jordan Parry U10 Coach)

Under 11 – Ben Williams

Ben was playing up an age group Saturday and he didn't look out of place, he worked hard for the whole game and was very confident on the ball. (Jason Bell U11 Coach)

Under 12 – Liam Jones

In a very poor performance from the under 12s. Liam scored a well taken free kick and tried to be positive on the right wing in a very difficult day but what will be a great learning experience for our young side.(Jay Catton)

Under 13 – Cameron Ellis

Scored 1 goal and probably had another but was ruled not over the line, assisted our eventual 2nd goal though! Worked hard to lead the line, linked with midfield well in first half and tried to look after the ball when it was played into him. (Daniel Mapp-Jones U13 Coach)

Under 14 – Levi Jaques Parry

Had some ups and downs with Levi this season but over last three weeks he’s really pulled it back together , both games over the weekend his work rate on and off the ball has been first class , scoring in both games and assisting two in Sunday’s game. Well done Levi and keep it up (Dale Johnson U14 Coach)

Under 15– James Dawson

James was asked to play in a number of different positions today ,as we were light on defensive players, started off as CH ,played in the 8 and 9 also got himself on the score sheet,he gave me and the team 100% in all positions.(Mick Nickson U15 Coach)

Under 16 - Lee Rogers

Lee had a solid game at left back. Looked to get forward as much as he could and defended well when needed. Capped his performance off with a superb strike from outside the box into top corner. (Iain Bennett U16 Coach)
