Nomads enjoy fantastic third day at Villareal.

By Jay Catton

The players enjoyed a stadium tour, training session at the academy and game against the La Liga side in a truly great day.

The side had an early leave from the hotel in the morning to travel to the Villareal stadium. The side were met by two Villareal coaches who were with us through out the day.

The side enjoyed a private tour of the La Liga stadium, seeing the ground from top to bottom, including changing rooms, media rooms etc.

Following this it was off to Villareal football clubs training ground. These grounds are used by all of the academy from u8 to first team level.

A fantastic facility as would be expected from a top La Liga club with top class pitches and set up.

After getting changed the lads enjoyed a top class passing session by Mark the Villareal under 15 coach. A session which all the lads thoroughly enjoyed and myself and Mark really learned from as coaches.

The side were then taken to the clubs restaurant where they enjoyed a four course pre match meal in preparation for the evenings game.

After a few hours rest in the sun it was straight back to action in the sides game against the La Liga academy side.

As would be expected the home sides passing and possession of the ball was second to none and they also played the traditional Spanish 4 3 3 shape which Nomads had to deal with.

Nomads set out in a 3 5 2 formation to try and overload the midfield and the side found themselves one nil up after a Sam Jones goal.

Villareal hit back before Josh Williams scored another scorcher from thirty yards which lobbed the keeper. The young under 19 player has now scored against Benfica, Espanyol and Villareal academy sides in the last two academy trips. Not bad to have on a young players playing CV.

Fantastically the side found themselves two one up at the break, which was a fantastic achievement.

But unfortunately the two sessions and game vs Espanyol the previous day had took their tole, and the lads tired in the second half and lost the game by five goals to two.

Villareal had nine subs to our two and credit to the Nomads boys they worked their socks off, but the difference in class and fitness levels really told and they were deserved winners.

After returning to the hotel the side had an evening in town before returning ready to travel home in the next morning.

A fantastic day and experience by all which I am sure won’t be forgotten soon.
