Pitches / the weather !

By Nick Barrett

Message from the chairman on how we are trying to get the pitches playable !

As you are all aware, we have been suffering during January with the amount of water that has been on the pitches due to the consistent heavy rain. This has of course meant the cancellation of games and disruption to the training schedule on Saturday mornings.

The club would like to update everyone of the action we are taking to minimize the disruption to the football program. Today at the club we have employed a groundsman who is using compressed air to fracture and decompress the top surface of the football pitches, which will assist with the drainage of the rain water through to the underground drainage system. Whilst this is not a miracle cure, it will hopefully go some way to solving the issues we currently have and get the underground drainage system working as it should be.

I have attached a picture of the machine and hopefully we get some football played in the near future. We know it is frustrating with football games being cancelled but please be rest assured that the club are always looking at ways we can improve the drainage at the ground whilst improving the playing surface.

Many thanks for your understanding.
