DCC 3s win again.

By Toby Blood

6 wicket win for Chizza's men!

Dorking 3rd XI hosted Kempton at Westhumble after missing a week due to Sheen Park forfeiting an away trip to Dorking (again).

Kempton won the toss and fancied a bat on a good looking track, with a quick looking outfield. But the Dorking bowlers never let Kempton get away. Myers and Young opened the bowling and put Kempton under pressure immediately with a wicket apiece in the first 10 overs, with Kempton getting 25. It might have been more but Cox dropped a sharp chance off Myers in the slips. Travis Blood and Tim Brewster kept up the pressure. Tim bowled a canny low full toss to get their opener caught by Noisey (1 of his 2 catches!). Brewy then did his best George Edwards impression by dropping a caught and bowled dolly. Trav bowled with his usual pace and picked up a quick 3 wickets, including 2 in 2 for the third time this season (but still no hat trick).

Dorking continued to keep the pressure up with the ball. Jack Homewood’s spin got a couple of wickets (10 overs, 1 maiden, 2 for 26). Myers returned to dismantle another set of stumps (11 overs, 4 maidens, 2 for 31) and DY was unlucky not to get more wickets (10 overs, 3 maidens, 1 for 28). But it took Trav returning to finish off a 20 run final run partnership, rearranging more stumps (finishing with 4 for 13 off 7.2). Kempton all out for 117.

Dorking initially made pretty hard work of chasing down the target. Ben Overton got them off to a bit of a flier but before Dorking knew it, they were 4 wickets down after Overton, Horton, Chisman and Brewster were out and Kempton were buzzing tediously. However, Graham Cox and Andrew Halliday rowed Dorking home comfortably in the end. They ran well and Cox batted with style hitting some sumptuous shots; Hallas punished anything full. Dorking won by 6 wickets, Cox 61 not out, Hallas 21 not out.
