Ruthless Dorking beat Dulwich

On another hot, summer day Dorking made the long trek through London to face Dulwich. Dulwich skipper Stolle won the toss and invited Dorking to bat. Captain Blood would have batted first so the decision suited the away side. Erasmus and Lister strode to the crease and set about the innings in a watchful mood. Erasmus punished anything loose and Lister dug in at the other end. The pair were a perfect foil for each other and the score had reached 60-0 at the first drinks break. Erasmus reached yet another 50 but after taking the spinner Waqar for 10 in his first two balls, fell shortly after caught at mid wicket. Lister followed for a patient 18 but the importance of that knock was there to see for all. Kenway and Douthwaite looked to rebuild the innings and both batted sensibly as Dorking seeked to reach a strong total. Kenway struck a crucial 24 which included 3 4's, whilst Douthwaite was at his fluent best. Dan hit a vital 50 off 60 balls which included 3 4's and 2 maximums. Homewood also contributed well with 25 as Dorking declared on 206-6 from 50 overs.

With the win in their sights, Dorking came out all guns blazing. Douthwaite and Erasmus both struck twice early to leave Dulwich on 4-4. With the foot firmly on the throttle, Dulwich slumped even further to 32-7 at drinks. Erasmus had picked up 4, Douthwaite 2 and Ward with a vital wicket just before drinks. Despite some resistance from Munawar, Dorking claimed the win with Corbett mopping up with tail (2-10), alongside Myers (1-4). A fantastic all-round display from the whole side. Credit to Joe Ikuta who was electric in the field and to all of the bowlers who worked incredibly hard for that win. 24 crucial points as Dorking move second ahead a top of the table clash.
