The draw for the quarter finals of the Scottish Hydro Bowl was made at Murrayfield yesterday, and to say that it could have been kinder to Duns is an understatement, to say the least.
The two qualifiers from the West region have been drawn to play each other, as have the two qualifiers from the Midlands region. However, both of the qualifiers from the East region have been handed away ties to the two surviving North region clubs, meaning that Duns face an Easter weekend on the road.
After being drawn away to Ross Sutherland, from Invergordon, at the quarter final stage last season, en route to the Murrayfield final, Duns must travel to Orkney in three weeks time if they are to achieve back to back appearances at the national stadium.
The full draw is :-
Wigtownshire v Strathendrick or Cumnock
Strathmore v Grangemouth
Aberdeen University v Earlston or North Berwick
Orkney v Duns
The two delayed ties in the last 16 are being played tomorrow ( 13th March ) with the quarter finals scheduled for April 3rd.
