With last weeks defeat at Mundford now behind us we were back at The College today as we welcomed a Reepham side who have found the going tough since being relegated last season with just the one win to their names so far.
Aggy, Lewi, Raffa, Wheeler and Jarz were all still missing however we were able to welcome back Baz, Al and Swatty to the starting XI.
The day started with a perfectly observed minutes silence in memory of former manager Ken Cushing who sadly passed away last week. Our thoughts are with his family.
Reepham got us underway and with the sun at our backs we set about controlling the majority of the opening quarter of an hour of the game which despite seeing us have the lions share of the ball there was no real action to speak of until with 15 minutes on the clock and incisive passing move saw Sags feed Matty Fell who fired past the Reepham keeper and into the far corner for 1-0.
This was really the best the first half got for either side with Reepham happy to sit deep and defend with us trying to force the issue a little too much and passes going astray. The visitors were content to chance their arm from set pieces in the opening half but the Easton back line held firm.
HT 1-0
The second half almost got off to the worst possible start as long ball forward from kick off was allowed to bounce and Matty had Baz to thank as he saved well from the big Reepham front man.
The away side were starting to open up in an attempt to get into the game and chances were beginning to come and go. George saw a volley from 18 yards fly just past the post before Swatty fired over the bar when well placed.
The missed chances came back to bite us when a clipped ball into the box wasn't fully cleared by Hayden and the Reepham striker thumped home from 12 yards with 25 minutes to play.
This however seemed to spark us into life as just 5 minutes later George collected a pass from Sags and fired in off the near post to put us back in front. Reepham almost hit straight back though as only a stunning save from the top corner by Baz kept out an effort from 25 yards. This proved to be the crucial moment in the game as a superb cross from Ian was headed home expertly by George to seal the points 5 minutes after that.
There was still time for Baz to save well to his right as time ran out and Swatty dragged an effort just wide of the far post just before the full time whistle.
FT 3-1
