Local Girl aiming for Scotland cap

By Gareth D Kemp

Ellon Acadamy student and Ellon Rugby U18 girls player and coach, Katie Falconer

has been selected for the U19s Scotland 7s Squad that will compete in the Sainsbury Youth Games in September (4th - 7th) in Manchester. 15 girls in total have been selected with 12 going into the final completion squad.
Katie is the only girl that has been selected from the Grampian area and youngest in the team by a year. Initially recognised as a reserve when called up; Chris Reid the head coach has decided that this year all have the potential to be picked into the competing team, giving Katie as much chance as the others.
Ex Ellon Girls star Emma Wassel initially received recognition at these games, which led to her becoming a full Scottish Girls Rugby international. Everyone at Ellon Rugby and Ellon Academy wishes Katie luck as she strives to take NE Girls rugby forward.
