3rds Lose Out to Penicuik

Falkland fall to away defeat despite valiant team effort.

Stuart&Stuart Penicuik 2 beat Falkland 3 by 51 runs

Falkland arrived in Pennicuik in a confident mood having fallen just short to the league leaders the previous week. Unfortunately a team selection mishap meant 9 arrived with special thanks to Dougie for filling in as extra fielder.

Captain won the toss again electing to put the opposition in. Pennicuik survived a tight opening 10 overs from Jamie Aitken and Callum Bell without loss before first change Logan Briggs added some spin to the attack taking a quickfire 4 wickets. With Penicuik sitting on 74 at drinks, Falkland looked to seize control, but were unable to break the 5th wicket partnership until late in the innings when Jamie Aitken found the edge of Kingsbury and Peter Matthews completed a dogged spell with the wicket of Wilson. Jamie Aitken's 2nd wicket followed by Aaron Barclay's first senior wicket reduced the opposition to 165-8.

Despite a reachable total Falkland were frustrated by some tight, experienced Pennicuik bowling and ultimately lacked the batting depth finishing on 114-5. A frustrating day but special mention to Logan Briggs 4-34 and Peter Matthews 1-31.
