Town kept a tight grip on the Commander Ethesltone Cup after a hard fought battle against the Cheshire Premier League side Malpas.

Amid torrential rain, playing conditions were tricky, though town managed to settle well and controlled the first 25 mins with Olly Jones and Tommy Lewis bossing the midfield. The Constant threat and hard work from striker jack Harris saw Malpas on the back foot and mainly stuck in their own half and resorting to long balls. But town were unable to make the break through and needed Paul Morris to alert in goal just before half time.

The second half saw town start with renewed purpose as wingers Paul Batche and Guy Guilford pushed forward into advanced positions and on 60 minutes it was Guilford who beat three players down the right before an inch perfect cross for Chris Bishop to slot home. Town had several further chances to finish the game off bus saw the out the game under some Malpas pressure.
