By Jay Catton

The two final leagues of the 2016/17 season have been announced for U9 and U10 age groups starting Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th April 2017.

New U9 and U10 leagues have been announced starting Wednesday 5th April and Friday 7th April 2017 at Deeside Leisure Centre Futsal pitches.

Under 9s

Wednesday 5th April – Wednesday 21st June

17:30 and 18:30 kick offs 6-12 teams needed

Under 10s

Friday 7th April – Friday 23rd June

17:30 18:30 kick offs 6-12 teams

If we have six sides all taking part, sides will play each other twice in a league format.

If only six sides the 18:30 slots will be used for all games. The 17:30 slots will be taken if we have more than six sides taking part.

The final two weeks will be finals evening consisting of semi and cup finals.

The twelve week programme will see medals and trophy for league winners, second place and third placed sides and the same for the cup winners on the final two weeks.

If maximum of twelve sides enter teams will simply play each other once in the league and then have one evening of a finals night.

Cost is just £25 per team per week.

Games consist of two twenty five minute halfs and are all reffed by Futsal and football Qualified Officials.

As well as officials on all pitches their will be a lead coach running each week where video footage and professional photos will be taken and added to the gap Futsal Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Teams can register for any of the above two leagues simply contacting Head of gap Futsal, Jay Catton on either 07952 646463 or his e mail on jay.catton@the-nomads.co.uk.

Once sides have confirmed their place they will be announced on our twitter page.

These are the last league events of the 2016/17 season so we are hoping and expecting big numbers for these final events.

Official Rules of gap Futsal

• Futsal is played on a marked pitch and the ball can go out of play. Unlike 5 a side the game is not played to the walls.
• The ball is a size four and a Futsal specific ball. It is heavier than an average football and has less bounce.
• There are no restrictions as to how high the ball can be kicked
• Rotating substitutions – Players can be rotated as often or as little as possible. When making a substitution the player must go to the designated bench. The player being subbed must be completely off the pitch before this can happen.New rule this year will see teams bench be on the half of the pitch they are defending. At half time sides will now switch benches also. This allowing subs to be a lot smoother. Subs and coaches should always be sat down on the bench and subs ideally bibbed up.
• Kick Ins. When the ball goes out of play it is kicked back in from the touchline and from corners. The ball must be completely stationery on the line. If a moving ball is kicked, a kick in will be given to the opposing side. You can not score directly from kick ins.
• The 4 second rule. For kick-ins, free kicks, goal clearances and corner kicks the player in possession of the ball has 4 seconds to restart play which the referee will count with their fingers in the air. If play isn't restarted within four seconds an indirect free kick will be awarded to the opposing team
• The 3m rule. Players are required to keep 3m from the player in possession of the ball on free kicks, corners, goal clearances, kick-ins and penalties.
• Goalkeepers. Goalkeepers are allowed to come out of the penalty area and players are allowed to go into the penalty area. Goal kicks can be taken anywhere in the area, but must be thrown under or over arm. Goalkeepers are not allowed to pick up back passes. When in possession with the ball in his area, the goalkeeper can not kick the ball out of his hands but can throw the ball both under and over arm.
• Sliding tackles – These are not allowed in Futsal, but players are allowed to slide on the pitch. For example to stop the ball going out of play. For a slide tackle a direct free kick will be given. For a player sliding to be considered an offence, the tackler’s opponent must have possession of the ball.
• Red Cards. If for any reason a player is sent off, the side is down to four men and can not directly replace that player. That player will also serve a one game suspension following the incident going into the next game. Any swearing what so ever will result in an automatic red card.
• Playing time - The games are 50 minutes long split into 2 x 25 minute halfs. All games will kick off at the same time under one time watch.
