By Steve Pennock

The club is sad to have learned that former goalkeeper Gary Ingham passed away earlier in the week, aged 48.

Gary was signed by Gary Marrow in October 2004 and went on to make 97 appearances for Frickley Athletic, playing a large part in the Blues' successful 2005/06 season. He left to join Grantham Town early in the 2006/07 season and then moved to Stocksbridge Park Steels where he became assistant manager to Gary Marrow.

His career began in the youth team at Rotherham United and he had loan spells at Shepshed Charterhouse, Goole Town, Bridlington Town and Maltby Miners Welfare before going on to make eleven Football League appearances for neighbours' Doncaster Rovers. A distinguished non-league career followed with spells at Gainsborough Trinity, Stalybridge Celtic, Leek Town and Belper Town before joining Frickley.

All at Frickley Athletic offer our sincere condolences to Gary's friends and family. Gary was a true gentlemen who will be truly missed all who knew him.

* Gary's funeral will take place at Rotherham Crematorium on Thursday 6th December at 1.30pm.
