Last gasp Hunter takes the spoils....

A late goal from Sean Hunter saw Town back to winning ways at fourth place Maltby after a second half comeback cancelled out earlier goals from Lee Turner and Mark Simpson.

Steven Weatherill replaced Pete Lawrie in goal, and there were starts for Jack McMurrough and Ross Shelton. McMurrough covered at right-back to allow Daniel Coupland to replace an unavailable Jack Lazenby at centre-back.

Manager Rob Hunter will have demanded a response from his side after last Saturday's woes, and that was exactly what he got in a gutsy and determined display. There was a good chance for Calum Ward with only a minute gone, receiving the ball from a defensive error and hooking over the bar from a narrow angle. On eleven minutes, Town were awarded a penalty when Mark Simpson was clipped in the box by Joseph Austin. Up stepped Lee Turner and converted low into the corner to give us the lead, goalkeeper Jamie Bailey getting a hand to the ball but not enough to keep it out. Maltby responded with three good chances of their own, and will consider themselves unlucky not to have drawn level. Ryan Carroll smashed against the post after making a run in from the left with the rebound stabbed wide, before Weatherill made a good save to deny Bradley Morton's header; the ball falling to Jed McGowan who's effort was wide of the far post. From the resulting corner the post was struck again, this time by a Dean Smith header.

On 27 mins the lead was doubled when a poor back pass was spilled by Bailey into the path of Ward who supplied Mark Simpson to sweep home for a fifth goal in three visits to this venue. Four minutes later however Main had a goal back after McGowan's blocked effort fell to Smith who arrowed a cracking half-volley into the top corner. Steven Hopewell will have been disappointed not to have completed a quick comeback shortly before half time when free in the area, but could only shoot weakly into the arms of Weatherill. Just after that we suffered a blow when Ross Shelton went down injured with a suspected twisted knee, Matthew Savage replacing him.

On 61 mins a shot from Ward was parried by Bailey straight to Simpson but under the watch of two defenders, couldn't capitalise. Down the other end a few minutes later, Cameron Rigby had the ball in the net directly from a corner, but the 'goal' was disallowed for a foul on Weatherill. Whilst Town arguably rode their luck in the first half, the same was true of Main in the second. Mitch Hamilton had been doing well down the left and Ward was proving a real handful for defenders Austin and Morton. An excellent delivery by Turner picked out Hamilton who's shot brought a fingertip save from Bailey, before a Ward effort shaved the far post (yes, that one again) after he rounded a stranded Bailey. On 81 mins Weatherill got down to turn round the post Carroll's header from substitute Danny Pogmore's free-kick. On 90 mins though Main had their equaliser when Hopewell's low cross into the six yard-box wasn't dealt with and Carroll was on hand to fire home at the back post.

After Saturday many would have settled for a draw here, but there was another twist to follow three minutes into injury time. Hamilton's effort was parried by Bailey into the path of 83rd-minute substitute Sean Hunter who bundled the ball home to give Town the points.

Whilst the 17-year old will grab the headlines, every player who took to the field put a full shift in and the lads can be proud of their efforts. The Miners return to the Supply Chain Network Stadium this Saturday when Worksop Town are the visitors (kick-off 3pm).
