Tevvie pitched up at Plains Road boasting an unbeaten run of 5 with an overall record of W13 D3 and L5. On the other side the hosts were suffering from an injury crisis with 6 first teamers all still absent coupled with a poor recent run of results.

A neutral supporter would have been forgiven trying to ascertain which teams were which as the home team flew into the game with some fine football which seemed to stop the visitors in their tracks and they must have thought they were in for a tough afternoon.

So it transpired as Gedling played the better stuff looking dangerous everytime they ventured forward. Home winger Abou Sylla was particularly dangerous and slippery and was giving full back Luke Bacon a busy time of it. Ross McAughey went close for Gedling and Joe Meakin almost opened the scoring as his shot just flew over.

Tevvie's outlet was long balls over the top to Phil Griffith and Matt Wilkinson and the lively ex-Pro David Cockerill was pulling some very important strings in midfield. The visitors opened the scoring on 19 minutes. Centre Back Jason Gregory, lurking on the edge of the area, pounced on a loose half-clearance to fire home inside the post.

Still Gedling powered forward taking the game to the visitors and Sylla, Meakin and Carey Knight all tested 'keeper Josh Turton to no avail but, on 38, the game was levelled. Taking a slick pass from Sylla in the inside right channel, Meakin arrowed the equaliser into the roof of the net from a fully 30 yards. A fully deserved equaliser possibly a contender for Goal of the Season.

1-1 and all square at half time and an intriguing game of football was unfolding. Much of the same from Gedling, clearly missing the injured Jack Jepson. His penalty box play was missing as half chances came and went for the hosts.

On the hour came the go-ahead goal. Cockerill, a thorn in the side all game with his intelligent link up play, pounced on a ball after a free kick and his shot flew in off the underside of the bar. Tails now up, the visitors continued to see off the game although Gedling should and could have equalised for the second time with no let up in their approach play. Just that killer instinct in front of goal was missing.

Again McAughey went closest and Dwayne Brown also testing Turton who was called upon to keep his sides well earned 3 points in the final minutes with saves from Meakin and Sylla. A fine display of football from both sides. Without a doubt Gedling will get back to winning ways soon. Their attitude and commitment deserved more.
