GLAPWELL v BRODSWORTH WELFARE FC

By Young Vanish

Just one point to secure the league title!

“Glapwell now need a single point from this game to ensure the league title. Will they finish the job in style?”

A warm Hall Corner welcome for the visit of “Broddy” this coming Saturday, May 7th.

Brodsworth Welfare are based in Woodlands a village just north of Doncaster straddling the Great North Road. The club’s roots can be traced back to 1912 but more recently they’ve played in the Doncaster Senior League throughout the 1980s winning the league title in 1985. In 1988 they joined the Northern Counties East League (NCEL) where they spent more than 20 years before joining the Central Midlands League North Division in 2012, following a single season, 2011-12, in the Doncaster & District League.

Recent seasons have seen them finish 13th of 17 in 2013-14, 11th of 18 in 2014-15 and are currently in 9th place for the current campaign.

Each team’s recent results (most recent to the left) are …
Broddy: D 1-1, L 0-1, L 1-4, W 1-0, D 4-4 (cup), W 2-1
Glappy: W 7-2, W 23-1, W 12-0, W 8-1, W 3-1, W 5-1

Following the 3-0 defeat suffered by closest rivals Phoenix on Wednesday evening, Glapwell now need a single point from this game to ensure the league title. Will they finish the job in style?
