Liam Brownhill was dismissed in the 11th minute having been harshly adjudged to have brought down the Brighouse striker when seemingly clear on goal. Daniel Grimshaw netted the penalty to add insult to injury.
It looked an uphill climb from their for GNE, but within 90 seconds Callum Chippendale had netted a leveller with a low drive from the edge of the area.
Shortly afterwards the same player gave Glossop the lead, controlling and dispatching a cut back from 12 yards with crisp control.
There was more to come as Adam Jones headed home on 27 minutes, then Jude Oyibo sprinted down the left, outpacing all and slotting home between the keeper's legs to make it 4-1.
Brighouse made two changes at the break to turn things around, and did pull one back on 55 minutes, Grimshaw again taking advantage of a penalty award. However, Ben Deegan's scored a terrific solo goal on 71 minutes, cutting in from the flank, selling a defender a dummy and dinking the ball over the keeper to round off the scoring, and complete a magnificent 5-1 victory.
