Ashton United Are Coming To Town!

By Simon Hayes

The Gingerbreads return to The Meres on Saturday for their final home match of 2017.

The visitors are Ashton United, who are unbeaten in their last 6 league matches. Their last outing was 3 weeks ago when they won 2-1 at Rushall Olympic. The previous two Saturday's has seen both their proposed fixtures falling foul of the weather.

The Gingerbreads defeat last Saturday to Buxton was the first in 8 league matches. Manager Adam Stevens was dissapointed with the result but happy with where his side have got to in the league so far "We missed a chances to level and then win the match on Saturday, but we have to be positive. We're 3rd in the table, we've got a great group of lads backed by magnificent supporters."

The Gingerbreads Luke Shaw had an operation on Tuesday to repair his torn ACL, which went well and is now resting up over Christmas. Apart from Luke, everyone else is available for the match.

Matt Baker's loan at Sutton Coldfield finished last Saturday. His contract has been cancelled by mutual agreement and has left the club. We wish him will in the future.

Don't forget that the Gingerbread are holding the Christmas Party from 1pm, it will be great to see as many supporters join us before and after the match.

For anyone unable to make the match, we'll have updates across our social media accounts.
