The Gingerbreads Share The Points

By Simon Hayes

The Gingerbreads were left ruing their missed chances meaning they only drew with lowly Ilkeston

Ellis Storey failed in his pre match fitness test, which meant Sam Purcicoe filled in at left back. Lee Shaw returned to the starting line up after being on the bench in Tuesday's penalty victory over Basford.

The Gingerbreads started well and kept the pressure on the visitors and in the 2st minute were ahead, thanks to former Ilkeston player Luke Shaw. Danny Meadows crossed the ball in and Luke turned the ball home from 6 yards out.

The pressure continued from the home side but could not find a deserved second.

The second half started in much the same way with most of The Gingerbreads seeing a chance go amiss.

Then out of nowhere Ilkeston were level. The Gingerbreads defended a poor corner but the clearance landed to Danny Gordon who rifled a volley in past a hapless Kieran Preston.

The Gingerbreads though continued to keep pushing but they had no luck with a hat full of chances.

The point means The Gingerbreads sit in 10th place.
