2018 on your bike completed

By Jeff Moorey

Old friends, new friends and new shape old friend complete the Rotary club "On your bike" charity cycle ride.

An early start at the Rugby club saw some members dusting their bikes off for a first ride of 2018. With the 3 options of 15,30 or 45 mile routes on offer it was a good start for members to launch the summer rides. First, a complaint must be dealt with....We did not see much of Neil Jobbins on the ride. His lack of pints, curries, biscuits and of course more cycling miles has seen a 4 stone loss since the Ypres trip.

After the group arrived at the Prom to meet with over 500 riders and the Mayor of Gravesham, we split into 3 and following the prescribed routes, we saw various sites such as the' lesser spotted tarmac' , dancing cycles as they with no warning went off course to miss the bomb blasts craters spread nicely along all the routes. The usual fantastic assistance of the volunteers at the check points and of course the tasty Bread pudding at Cobham School plus the warmth of some strange yellow ball in the sky allowed all riders to return to the club safely.

A great ride with great company. More club rides to follow also with the start of Wednesday night rides. Please look in the diary and other news articles.
