Gresford continued their good form with a good a performance in tricky conditions.
Gresford once again came from behind to secure a place in Quarter final of the Huws Gray league cup thanks to goals from Tom Freeman, Jac Jones, and debutant Mikey Latham.
In tough conditions it was the home side that started the best and deservedly went ahead after 12 minutes when Mike Platt could'nt keep out a header from a corner. This proved the motivation needed and the midfield three of Griffiths, Mactinyre, and Chalinor started to take control of the game.
The home goal keeper made a number of fine saves before Aaron Edwards turned a Tom Freeman cross over the bar from close range. Soon after Simon Smith cut in from the right hand side and provided a great cross which Aaron Edwards missed and Tom Freeman was left free on the back post to score his first of the season. By this time Macintyre was running the midfield and just before half time Max Peate won a header from a Macintyre cross jack Chalinor turned it goal wards and Jac Jones made sure despite complaints from the home bench over offside.
Into the second half and it was Gresford who started brightly but for a number of fine saves from the home goal keeper would have been further ahead. The game however soon turned and Mike Platt made a number of important saves to keep Gresford ahead.
Halliwell sent on Ben Burrows, and Mikey Latham for his debut in place of Jack Edwards, and Aaron Edwards. Soon after man of the match Mactinyre took control of the ball in midfield and played a finely weighted pass for Latham who broke the offside trap and slotted the ball past the on coming goal keeper to make it 3-1. It could have been four but for another fine save from the home goal keeper from Simon Smith after being put through by Latham.
Halliwell made his final change with the rested Owen Roberts replacing Tom Freeman.
The win sees Gresford book a home tie with Penrhyncoch in the Quarter final.
