Borough Through After Sensational Comeback

The Wilderness Boys made it through to the Toolstation NCEL Division One PlayOff Final after a stunning comeback to beat Hallam 3-2.

Grimsby Borough made in nine games unbeaten and booked their place in Saturday's Toolstation Northern Counties East League Division One Play Off final.

After a reasonably quiet first half which saw key chances for both sides including Jack Debnam striking against the post Hallam found themselves in the lead nearing the end of the first half. Things got worth for Borough before the break as Matthew Blythen picked up his second in as many minutes to the delight of the large visiting Hallam support.

Borough needed a big second half as started it perfectly when Caine Winfarrah's effort from 25 yards (as pictured) flew past the Hallam goalkeeper. Jack Debnam then drew the game level with another 20 yard powered effort creeping its way inside of the post after 55 minutes. The comeback was then completed in the 72nd minute when Caine Winfarrah's low cross was parried away onto to Adam Drury who fort off the defenders and slotted it into the unmanned net. Borough had chances to confirm victory Danny Trott coming close on two occasions of of which rebounding off the inside of the post.

In the other Toolstation NCEL Play Off Semi Final third placed AFC Emley who missed out on promotion by just one point fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Penistone Church. This result means that Borough will have a home fixture against Penistone on Saturday with a 15:00 kick off.
