Cup Winners!

By Martin Roberts

The club lifts the Village Cup to end the season on a high note.

Guilsfield Reserves saw off the challenge of Four Crosses in the Village Cup on Friday night with a fine 4-1 win to lift the trophy for the first time.
The match promised to be a tight affair but Crosses looked a little jaded after a run of games which has led them to three finals in a week. Guilsfield took full advantage with a very good display.
Four Crosses took the lead in the first minute with a great strike but Guilsfield equalised two minutes later through top scorer Danny Barton. Harry Garthwaite then nudged Guilsfield ahead and further goals from Chris Cathrall and Harry struck again to cap a fine performance and sealed the win.
The cup victory was the icing on the cake for Mark Lloyd's side. Last season, the team just managed to stay in the First Division and the turnaround in fortunes has been very pleasing. In Mark's first season as manager, the team has performed to its potential - just missing out in the league title race and then picking up the silverware in the last game of the season. Congratulations!
