Bishopthorpe started brightly forcing Hambleton keeper Graeme Parker into two early saves – one from a deflected shot and one that was tipped on to the crossbar.
The visitors slowly got into their stride as the half went on but were restricted to long range efforts.
The second half started more brightly for Hambleton and they were unlucky from two consecutive corners. Nigel Croad, making his return to the club, headed against the bar and then had a second header cleared off the line minutes later.
Winger Kane Snelson then hit the post with a long range effort as Hambleton began to dominate.
Eventually, they got their reward as Nathan Parker swept the ball home after good work from Galen Hill down the right.
Hambleton then doubled their lead in the last 15 minutes when Snelson went on a mazy run, beating three defenders before rounding the goalkeeper and firing into an empty net.
Skipper John Matthews was deservedly awarded Man of the Match by the referee.
