Elks run wild!

Elks cruise to victory

It was a glorious Sunday morning at the Kingsfield in Kingston. Bathed in sunshine and with the Elks making their first early morning start in over a year. Could it be that the Weetabix had kicked in? Was this the optimal time to play based on a 11 hours sleep? There could be a multitude of reasons for the performance displayed by every single player who crossed the line this morning.

Bedfont and Feltham youth U9’s were the opponents today and the game started where we finished off a few weeks ago; passing, pressing and a goal. Fletcher Booth was first to strike today and register the first of 5 goals, the pick of which was a long range howitzer of a free kick. The pattern continued with another goal from the boot of Booth followed up by George Rayner dispatching a penalty to notch his 1st of 4 goals. Sam Walker our box to box, never out of energy, man for all occasions and skill of the day champion bagged a goal followed by Joseph Timba, picking himself up from being bungled over in the box to power a penalty in. Joseph would later pick up another goal after moving from the back to display some nice close control for a goal in the second half. 3 more George Rayner goals made the game safe. Max McGregor the utility man with more than an eye for goal drove in the first of his 2 goals on the day the second of which was a perfect header from a corner. That goal showed how far the boys have developed since last season and also showed how much desire Max had to get there and hit the target. Dominic Stenning while failing to get on the score sheet showed his value to the team by always being available for a pass, delivering great balls to feet and a willingness to play in various positions during the day. Having mostly been deployed as a defensive player Zach Draper showcased a hidden talent out on the wing, driving with purpose as the opposition and being strong in the tackle, he was unfortunate with a few strikes today, but I see goals in the young man! Bedfont did get the biggest cheer of the day when a young chap going by the name of Pogba scored a very good break away goal past Cyril Bellamy who was definitely under employed today but was beaten by a wonderful strike.

Man of the Match goes to Fletcher for his first 5 for. Skill of the match goes to Sam

A pleasing day in the field, MOM to Fletcher for the Elks first 5 for.
