After putting in a strong performance against Mersea last weekend, Harwich & Dovercourt managed to produce the complete opposite performance against the league leaders this Saturday.
Stanford Le Hope scored three converted trys during the opening ten minutes of this fixture, taking the score to 21-0, leaving H&D with a mountain to climb. After this Harwich & Dovercourt finally started to get into the game, with their strong set piece building platforms for the visitors. The rest of the half was closely contested with both teams exchanging trys. Sam Male converting both of Harwich & Dovercourt's, scored by forwards Simon Palmer and Kyran Green. The score now 36-14 at half time.
During the second half H&D did make many forced changes due to injury, but credit must go to Stanford Le Hope, who showed why they are top of league with an all round strong performance, producing a lot of attractive rugby. The home side dominated the second half and had scored 67 points at full time.
This was a week to forget for H&D, who will be looking to bounce back with a much improved performance next Saturday, when they entertain Billericay at home, 2:30pm KO.
